«DeutschFit»

The learning voucher is called «DeutschFit» and is part of the pilot project «Welcome Desk».

With the DeutschFit language learning voucher, the City of Lucerne supports people who have recently moved to Lucerne and whose mother tongue is not German.

A good knowledge of German helps in everyday life. It makes it easier to interact with other people and improves your prospects in your professional life.

The voucher is worth CHF 350. You can use it for German language courses until the level of C1 with recognised course providers in the city of Lucerne.

The offer is valid provisionally for the years 2026 and 2027.

The voucher is valid until the end of 2027.

The German courses must be booked by the end of 2027 at the latest.

The course must start before May 2028.

 

Criteria

Who is eligible for the voucher?

You are eligible for a voucher, if

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You have been living in lucerne not more than two years
  • Your mother tongue is not german 
  • You hold an L, B or C residence permit
  • You are a weekly resident or are studying in Lucerne
  • You are no longer covered by the jurisdiction of the Canton of Lucerne’s Asylum and Refugee Service (persons with N, F or S status) and do not receive financial social assistance

Additional vouchers

  • You are eligible for up to three vouchers if you hold a valid Kulturlegi

Who is not eligible for a voucher?

You will not receive a voucher if

  • You are undocumented
  • You receive financial social assistance from the City of Lucerne
  • You are receiving support from the Canton of Lucerne in relation to asylum and refugees (status N, F or S) and are receiving financial social assistance.

You can obtain the voucher

  • Directly at the Welcome Desk
  • Obergrundstrasse 1, 6003 Luzern
  • Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

How it works

  • You can collect your voucher from the Welcome Desk
  • You choose a suitable German course on the website: www.welcomedesk-luzern.ch
  • You register for the course
  • The course provider will let you know whether you can start the course you've registered for

Costs

  • If the course costs more than the voucher, you'll need to pay the difference yourself
  • If you have a KulturLegi, its discount will be applied in addition
  • If the course costs less than the voucher, the remaining amount will be forfeited
